AllmodelsofframesA,B,C,DandEwithfixedsuffixDBhaveinternalbrakingIGBT,whichisavailable
inthestandardversionofframesA,BandCandasanoptionaliteminframesDandE.
Thebrakingtorquethatcanbeobtainedfromthefrequencyinverterwithoutbrakingresistorsvariesfrom10%to
35%ofthemotorratedtorque.
Brakingresistorsshallbeusedtoobtainhigherbrakingtorques.Inthiscase,theenergyregeneratedinexcessis
dissipatedinaresistormountedexternallytotheinverter.
Thistypeofbrakingisusedincaseswhereshortdecelerationtimesaredesiredorwhenhighinertialoadsare
driven.
The“OptimalBraking”featuremaybeusedwiththevectorcontrolmode,whicheliminatesinmostcasestheneed
ofanexternalbrakingresistor.
