Maintenance Procedures
11. Turn Battery Ground Disconnect Switch on.
12. Close battery compartment cover (1).
Battery Electrolyte Level - Check / Fill
If battery is “Maintenance Free”, it does not require electrolyte level checks.
1. Perform steps 1–5 of Battery - Maintenance. Refer
to
"Battery - Maintenance", page 5-9.
2. Remove cell caps (1). Use flashlight to check
electrolyte levels.
3. Add distilled water to each cell until plates are
covered.
NOTICE: Maintain proper electrolyte levels.
4. Install cell caps.
5. Perform steps 7–12 of Battery - Maintenance. Refer
to
"Battery - Maintenance", page 5-9.
Batteries - Charge
Charging as a 24V System
1. Perform steps 1–5 of Battery - Maintenance. Refer
to
"Battery - Maintenance", page 5-9.
2. Attach 24V charging device to the batteries. Observe
polarity and connect cables in the following order:
•Red cable to battery positive (+) terminal.
•Black cable to other battery negative (-)
terminal.
•Follow charging device’s instructions.
3. When charged, disconnect charging device.
Disconnect negative (-) cable, then positive (+) cable.
4. Perform steps 7–12 of Battery - Maintenance. Refer
to
"Battery - Maintenance", page 5-9.
