Maintenance Procedures
Charging as a 12V System
5. Perform steps 1–5 of Battery - Maintenance. Refer to
"Battery - Maintenance", page 5-9.
6. Remove crossover cable from between batteries,
inspect and replace if damaged.
7. Attach 12V charging device to first battery. Observe
polarity and connect cables in the following order:
•Red cable to battery positive (+) terminal.
•Black cable to battery negative (-) terminal.
•Follow charging device’s instructions.
8. When charged, disconnect charging device. Disconnect negative (-) cable, then positive (+) cable.
9. Repeat procedure for second battery.
10. Inspect crossover cable and replace if damaged. Install crossover cable.
11. Perform steps 7–12 of Battery - Maintenance. Refer to
"Battery - Maintenance", page 5-9.
Batteries - Replace
NOTICE: Replacement batteries must meet battery
specifications. Refer to
"Batteries", page A-3. Replace
both batteries at the same time.
1. Perform steps 1–5 of Battery - Maintenance. Refer to
"Battery - Maintenance", page 5-9.
2. Remove crossover cable (1) from between batteries,
inspect and replace if damaged.
3. Remove battery tie-down (2) and batteries.
4. Install new batteries and battery tie-down.
5. Perform steps 7–12 of Battery - Maintenance. Refer to
"Battery - Maintenance", page 5-9.
