Maintenance Procedures
Cooling System - Check / Clean
1. Follow "Machine Shutdown Procedure", page 3-13.
2. Check coolant level. Coolant should be visible in the
sight glass (1).
3. Inspect hose clamps for tightness.
NOTICE: Do not clean the cores when machine is
running.
4. Check for dirt and debris in radiator fins and
hydraulic cooler core.
5. Clean fins. Partially blocked fins will increase
engine coolant and/or hydraulic Fluid operating
temperature.
Compressed air is preferred, but high pressure
water or steam can be used to remove dust and
general debris from a core. Always keep nozzle at
least 12” (30 cm) away from fins and point nozzle
perpendicular to fins to help prevent bending fins.
6. Check fan for damaged blades. Check for loose
fasteners.
DEF Tank - Fill (T4F Engines Only)
CAUTION
Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) can cause eye irritation and can be moderately
irritating to the skin. Spilling DEF onto hot components can cause the
release of ammonia vapors. Exposure to decomposition products can cause a
health hazard. Serious effects can be delayed following exposure.
DEF is not expected to produce significant adverse health effects when the
recommended instructions for use are followed:
Do not breathe DEF vapor or mist.
Do not eat, drink, or smoke when using DEF.
Avoid DEF contact with eyes, skin, and clothing.
Use caution when dispensing DEF near a hot engine.
Do not clean up any spills with bleach.
Wash hands thoroughly after handling DEF.
