Bus address
In the case of devices with a PROFIBUS PA interface, check the
bus address prior to commissioning. If no specifications exist to
the contrary, the address is set to 126. During commissioning,
the address must be set to a valid value in the range 0 to 125.
System integration
Use of PROFIBUS PA profile B, B3.0 ensures interoperability and
interchangeability of units. Interoperability means that devices
from different manufacturers can be physically connected to a
bus and are communication-ready.
The devices can be interchanged without having to reconfigure
the process control system.
To support interchangeability, three different GSD files
(equipment master data) are provided, which can be integrated
in the system.
For additional information, see the separate interface
description.
The manufacturer-specific GSD file ABB_078C can be
downloaded from http://www.abb.com/flow.
The standard GSD files PA1397xx.gsd can be downloaded from
http://www.profibus.com.
FOUNDATION Fieldbus® (FF)
Note
The FOUNDATION Fieldbus® protocol is an unsecured protocol,
as such the intended application should be assessed to ensure
that these protocols are suitable before implementation.

Bus topology
• Tree and / or line structure.
• Bus connection: Passive at both ends of the main bus line (RC
element R = 100 Ω, C = 1 µF).
Voltage / current consumption
• Mean current consumption: 10 mA.
• In the event of an error, the FDEfunction (= Fault
Disconnection Electronic) integrated in the device makes
sure that the current consumption cannot exceed a
maximum of 13 mA.
• The upper limit of the current is electronically restricted.
• The voltage on the bus line must lie in the range of
9 to 32 V DC
