Chapter 9: Saving to and Loading from Disk
Now press <Next screen>. The display will change to the
following:
=========== Format Hard Disk ===========
Enter number of partitions: 4 (A-D)
Each partition will be 27 mbytes, for
a total of 110 mbytes.
========================================
<Next screen>
At this point you must enter the number of partitions to divide your
hard disk into. A higher number of partitions will reduce the size of
each partition; a lower number of partitions will maximize the size
of each partition. If you’re unsure, a safe bet is to select the fewest
partitions, allowing each partition to have the maximum size. When
you’ve decided, press <Next screen> and the following screen
will appear:
=========== Format Hard Disk ===========
Press <Format now> to start formatting.
THIS WILL ERASE ALL DATA ON THE DISK!
========================================
<Format now>
To begin formatting, press <Format now>. The disk formatting
process may take ten minutes or more, depending on the size of the
hard disk.
Using the hard disk
To use your formatted SCSI hard disk, make sure it is connected to
the MPC3000’s SCSI port when power for both devices is turned on.
The MPC3000 automatically recognizes that the hard disk is con-
nected and ready to be saved to and loaded from. At this time, all
save and load screens inform you of whether the floppy drive or one
of the hard disk partitions is active. You can easily change from one
to another.
The method of displaying and changing the active disk device is
described in the sections of this chapter outlining disk save and load
operations. In addition to being able to change the active disk device
from each of the save and load screens, it is also possible to select
drives from the initial DISK key menu.
