Chassis
The 7705 SAR-M is a service aggregation router that includes a number of fixed ports and,
on some chassis variants, a modular slot for expansion. The 7705 SAR-M chassis has one
circuit board that supports all functions of the router, including control and switching,
Ethernet interfaces, T1/E1 interfaces on variants equipped with those ports, as well as
indicator LEDs and connectors for node management, synchronization, and alarms.
For all chassis variants, all physical connections are made at the front of the chassis, including
the chassis ground connection. There are no back panel connections.
In addition to the circuit board, the chassis includes a four-position, single terminal block for
redundant DC power inputs. Two chassis variants have fans for actively cooling the router;
two chassis variants use a heat sink for passively cooling the router.
Mounting brackets for all variants of the 7705 SAR-M chassis are factory-installed and are
used to mount the unit in a recommended 19-inch rack. For the actively cooled variant of the
7705 SAR-M chassis, a separate kit can be ordered for mounting the unit in an ETSI rack.
The protective earth connection is provided via the chassis grounding stud on the right-hand
side mounting bracket.
