7705 SAR-M Overview
7705 SAR-M Chassis Installation Guide 61
All four variants of the 7705 SAR-M chassis have 7 Ethernet ports: 3 ports to support
1000Base-T Ethernet interfaces via Ethernet connectors, and 4 SFP ports for 10/100/1000
SFPs (optical or electrical). The SFP modules are hot-swappable and field-replaceable by
qualified personnel. Refer to Table 23 for a list of supported SFP modules.
When making connections to the T1/E1 and Ethernet ports, shielded cable must be used to
maintain EMC compliance.

Power Supply Inputs
The 7705 SAR-M has a standard, single terminal block (four terminals) attached to the front
of the chassis. The terminals provide access for two independent power feeds, allowing
power redundancy for the system. For -48/-60 VDC systems, DC power can be supplied by
a DC circuit or from an AC source via an AC power converter and pigtail cord. The AC power
converter cannot be connected to a +24 VDC system. When only one power feed is used, the
system does not have power supply redundancy. The power system has no field-replaceable
parts.
The DC power LEDs are located on the front of the router (see Figure 14). Refer to
7705 SAR-M Connectors and LEDs (Variants with Module Slot, Actively Cooled) for a
description of the power LED operation.
Refer to DC Power Connections for requirements and information regarding preparing DC
power cables. Refer to AC Power Connections for requirements and information regarding
AC power cables and AC power converters.
