Making External Synchronization Connections
The CSM provides 1.0/2.3 coaxial connectors for external synchronization input and output.
For redundant CSM configurations where both CSMs use the same synchronization signal, a
Sync Y-cable (available from Alcatel-Lucent) connects the Sync In connectors on both
CSMs to each other. The external synchronization source cable connects to the piggyback
connector on the CSM A Sync In side.
For redundant CSM configurations where both Sync Out signals are used, separate
synchronization output cables are needed, one for each CSM. Do not use a Sync Y-cable to
connect the Sync Out connectors to each other.
Figure 33 illustrates the use of a Sync Y-cable for redundant Sync In connections.
