1.4 Abbreviations and Glossary
Device Manager Application for management of portables, editing of
parameters and updating the portables with new software,
running on IMS3 and Unite CM.
GUI Graphical User Interface.
IMS3 Integrated Wireless Messaging and Services:
Unite module that enables wireless services to and from
the VoWiFi Handsets in a WLAN system. It also includes the
Device Manager.
IP Internet Protocol:
Global standard that specifies the format of datagrams and
the addressing scheme.
PDM Portable Device Manager:
Used for management of portables, editing of parameters
and updating the portables with new software.
SNMP Simple Network Management Protocol
Unite CM Unite Connectivity Manager:
Unite module that enables messaging and alarm handling
in a WLAN system. It also includes the Device Manager.
VoIP Voice over Internet Protocol
VoWiFi Voice over Wireless Fidelity:
A wireless version of VoIP. Refers to IEEE 802.11a,
802.11b, 802.11g, or 802.11n network.
WiFi Wireless Fidelity:
Used generically when referring of any type of 802.11
network.
