STERRAD VELOCITY Reader User’s Guide 49
Problem/Error Message Possible Cause Suggested Solution
No color change in the
chemical indicator for a
test biological indicator
may indicate that there’s
been an error in handling
or processing the biological
indicator. This may lead to
an incorrect result.
Improper handling
or processing.
Conrm that the user did
not inadvertently process a
control BI as a test BI. Process
a subsequent load with
another BI.
The biological indicator
has been removed from
well No. X. The incubation
period is void and has
been canceled.
BI removed before
reading process is
complete.
If a BI is removed before
the reading is complete the
reading stops, the results
are invalid, and a new test
will need to be conducted. Do
not touch or move BIs during
incubation. Remove BIs from
wells and perform proximity
calibration. Move reader away
from vibration sources. Ensure
BI was properly activated.
Our records indicate
that it’s been more than
two hours since sterilizer
cycle completion for this
biological indicator. This
may lead to an incorrect
result.
Power failure, loss,
delay.
Per BI IFU, incubate BI within
2 hours of sterilization to avoid
inaccurate results. Ensure
that the time is synchronized
between the reader and
the Sterilizer. BI is invalid,
reprocess with a new BI.
Our records indicate that
the scanned biological
indicator has already
been incubated. It cannot
be incubated again.
Scan barcode
from a previously
incubated BI.
Only incubate BIs which have
not been previously incubated.
Note: If the STERRAD VELOCITY
incubation cycle is canceled
after proceeding past the
BI activation screen, the
reader will consider the BI as
incubated and cannot incubate
that BI again.
