Problem/Error Message Possible Cause Suggested Solution
The barcode cannot
be read. Please try and
re-scan the barcode. If
it still cannot be read,
the biological indicator
cannot be incubated.
Barcode obstructed
or damaged.
Check BI for damaged
barcode. After waiting for
any active incubation cycles
to complete then perform
hard reboot of the reader by
unplugging the power adapter
from the back of the reader.
Wait 30 seconds, then plug the
power adapter into the back of
the reader. Attempt to re-scan
the barcode.
Well No. X is damaged
and cannot be used to
incubate a biological
indicator. Please remove
the biological indicator
immediately and try
another well.
Debris in well,
sensor blocked.
Remove BI from affected well
and wait 10 seconds to clear.
Check and remove debris from
the well if present. Perform
a well calibration if possible.
After waiting for any BI active
incubation cycles to complete
then perform hard reboot of
the reader by unplugging the
power adapter from the back
of the reader. Wait 30 seconds,
then plug the power adapter
into the back of the reader.
If problem persists, use an
alternate well and contact ASP.
A chemical indicator
color change for a control
biological indicator may
indicate that theres been
an error in the handling or
processing of the biological
indicator. This may lead to
an incorrect result.
Improper storage or
handling.
Check if a test BI was
processed as a control BI. If
the color of chemical indicator
was yellow out of the box, do
not use BI from the box and
contact ASP. Ensure that BI is
stored per BI IFU. Use another
BI for a positive control.
