When the PASS waveform type is selected, the OFF selection is not
available because the output is always synchronized to the input. The
amount of delay is also not selectable.
The reference input can only change the output sample rate by 25
ppm (0.0025 %) from the programmed sample rate. Therefore, the
generator sample rate must be set to within 25 ppm of the reference
sample rate in order to lock to it. If you are not certain of the
reference’s exact rate, connect it to the digital input and use the Digital
I/O function.
Digital Jitter Generator Mode (D:JIT)
The Jitter Mode allows control over the jitter applied to the digital
carrier signal. The Amplitude controls will control the magnitude of
the jitter, displayed in the center of the generator section of the panel.
The Frequency controls will control the frequency of the jitter,
displayed on the right side of the generator section of the panel.
The Generator Only panel provides several other options. The upper
left soft key can be used to turn the jitter on and off. The upper center
soft key controls the units for the jitter amplitude.
Whenever jitter is turned on, and a digital measurement function is
selected, a small letter ‘J’ will appear to the left of the main
measurement in the top left corner of the display.

IMPORTANT NOTE: All jitter amplitudes are calibrated in
peak values on the ATS-1 Dual Domain. This differs from
some other instruments which may generate and measure
jitter calibrated in peak-to-peak values. The peak value is
generally half of the peak-to-peak value.
