What does 'Lost User Data: Defaulting to Factory settings' mean on Baldor MintDrive?

  If this message is followed by You must now re-tune your motor retune the MintDrive by either re-entering the gain settings set earlier or by following the tuning setup. If this message is followed by Failed to automatically reset Factory settings, power-cycle the MintDrive. If the same message re-appears or the Ready LED stays red, contact Baldor Technical Support. Otherwise, retune the MintDrive by following the tuning setup. If this message is followed by Factory settings have been reset, but failed to clear error flag, type CANCEL and power-cycle the MintDrive. If the same message re-appears or the Ready LED stays red, contact Baldor Technical Support. Otherwise, retune the MintDrive.

How to resolve a failed Feedback alignment test on a Baldor MintDrive Controller?

  If the Feedback alignment test fails, and if your MintDrive has an internal 24VDC supply, ensure the mains is powered and connected. Check the motor UVW cable and feedback cable connections. Repeat the test and power-cycle the unit before repeating again. Verify the motor data settings are correct and inspect the feedback cable wiring. Ensure the resolver cable is physically separated from power cables, crossing them at 90 degrees if necessary. Enter the default angle of 23 degrees (for an 8-pole motor) or 46 degrees (for a 4-pole motor).

  If your Baldor Controller indicates an over voltage fault, especially during high deceleration, consider installing a regeneration resistor. If one is already installed, check its wiring and rating. You might also try decreasing the Mint DECEL parameter. Ensure the correct AC voltage is supplied and check for power line disturbances, possibly fitting a mains filter. Measure the input voltage to ensure it's within specification. If the problem continues, contact Baldor Technical Support.

Why is my Baldor MintDrive showing an under voltage fault?

  An under voltage fault on your Baldor Controller, particularly during acceleration, may indicate the load is too great. Try reducing the Mint ACCEL parameter. Ensure that the correct AC voltage is supplied. If the fault occurs immediately after power-up, remove the regeneration resistor and try again. Check for power input line disturbances and measure the actual input voltage to ensure it is within the specification. If the problem persists, contact Baldor Technical Support.

  To troubleshoot a Resolver fault or Encoder Loss on your Baldor Controller, start by checking the wiring of the encoder or resolver cable at both ends. If you're using an encoder, ensure that +5VDC is supplied to the encoder and that 3.5VDC is being returned on each of the encoder channels.

  If your Baldor Controller is experiencing an overload, check the motor and feedback wiring. If it occurs during high acceleration rates, decrease the Mint ACCEL parameter and/or reduce the motor load. Inspect the motor and load for excessive friction or issues like a broken gear in a gearbox.

  If your Baldor Controller shows an over speed fault, type PRINT MAXMOTORSPEED. If the value exceeds the motor's maximum mechanical speed, set MAXMOTORSPEED to the correct value (MAXMOTORSPEED = xxxx, where xxxx is the RPM from the catalog). Retune the motor after this change. Verify the Mint demanded velocity using QuickWatch or Capture tab and ensure it doesn't exceed the MAXMOTORSPEED. Adjust your Mint program if needed to generate a slower demand velocity.

Why can't I communicate with the Baldor MintDrive over RS232?

  If you cannot communicate with the MintDrive over the RS232 port, ensure Mint WorkBench has detected the MintDrive in the status bar. Verify the MintDrive is powered and the focus is on the Terminal window in Mint WorkBench. Confirm no program is running on the MintDrive or has disabled the RS232 terminal using the TERMINAL keyword. Check the Monitor LED is illuminated and power-cycle the MintDrive.

  If the CAN1 LED is flashing red on your Baldor Controller, verify that all nodes are running at the same baud rate and each has a unique NodeID. Ensure the network is terminated at each end. If the MintDrive is at the end, check the CAN1 switch is ON. Inspect the CAN cable for issues and check for bus errors. Type CANBUSRESET to reset the bus.

Why is the CAN2 LED flashing red on my Baldor Controller?

  If the CAN2 LED is flashing red on your Baldor Controller, check that all nodes operate at the same baud rate and each has a unique NodeID. Ensure the network is terminated at each end. If the MintDrive is at the end, verify the CAN2 switch is in the ON position and the jumpers on each CAN peripheral are correctly set. Inspect the CAN cable and check for bus errors. Type CANBUSRESET to reset the bus.
