The MicroFlo’s Plate Map defines which column or range of columns to dispense to. The
graphic representation of the columns makes it easy to pick and choose the plate’s
columns. Plate Maps can be changed on-the-fly for both Quick Dispenses and Protocols.

*Important: when dispensing to test tubes, and 6-, 12- and 48-well plates some dispense
tubes must be removed from the fluid supply vessel. See Special Plates Handling on page
33.
Fill Pattern
When using 384- and 1536-well plates, the MicroFlo offers two dispense patterns: Column
or Row. For these high-density plates, the 8-tip manifold must address the plate multiple
times to fill it. Column-wise dispensing fills each column before moving to the next. Row-
wise dispensing fills the first 8 rows, then reverses direction to fill the next 8 rows, and so
on, if applicable. Row-wise processing is faster because it requires fewer changes in
direction. Once it is defined, your
Pattern preference will apply to all runs, Quick
Dispenses and Protocols.
Using the keypad: Set the fill pattern using the
Dispenser Action Menu>Setup.
Using the LHC: Select
Tools>Instrument Utilities to set the fill pattern
Test Tube Racks
BioTek provides a test tube rack for use with the MicroFlo as optional accessory. It
supports dispensing to two common test tube sizes. Contact your BioTek representative to
purchase one.
Be sure to follow instructions for removing the plate carrier and properly replacing it with
the test tube rack in
Appendix B.
