Connecting Power and Ground
Ground the cabinet and test the ground
Ground the cabinet to a grounding device with a maximum resistance to ground of 20
Ohms, then test the ground connection.
A ground wiring diagram is included in the Diagrams and Worksheets binder that ships
with the cabinet.
Procedure to ground the cabinet
Step Action
1.
Route the main ground cable to the splice compartment and cut the cable to
sufficient length to reach the ground bar at the right side of the cabinet.
2.
Remove a knockout from the ground cable entry plate and install a matching
strain relief fitting into the hole.
3.
Slide the ground cable entry plate down the ground
cable and attach the plate to the bottom of the splice
compartment.
4.
Strip the ground cable 1/2 inch (1.27 cm) and attach a 2-hole compression lug
with an appropriate crimp tool (hole spacing options are 5/8", 1", or 1 1/4";
bolt size is 1/4").
5.
Secure the terminal lug of the ground cable to the
ground bar stud.
6.
Tighten the strain relief fitting to secure the ground cable.
