GPIO CONNECTIONS
GPIO connectors provide logic inputs and outputs, which can be assigned to various functions from the Type R interface.
GPIO allows console functions to trigger external devices e.g. fader starts for playback devices, and for external devices to trigger
console functions, e.g. auto-fades controlled by a video switcher.
External GPIO interfaces
The UR6500 Type R Core and the AD6501, AD6502 and JD6503 I/O boxes are fitted with GPIO circuits on RJ45 type connectors
The upper connector is a 6 input opto GPI connector, whilst the lower connector is a 6 output opto GPO connector.
GPI (inputs)
Each GPI connector carries six GPI circuits based on a simple opto-isolated design, capable of interfacing with any DC signal between
5V and 24V.
Each input is designed to be active sink (i.e. input must be grounded or closed to trigger logic high).
Three GPI share a common positive input (i.e. two common inputs in total for six GPI), which may be provided from an external
connection.
GPO (outputs)
Each GPO connector carries six GPO circuits based on a simple opto-isolated design, with each output capable of interfacing to a
maximum voltage of 30V and passing a maximum current of 4mA. Note there is one common connection for all 6 GPO and 5V is
provided on the connector for loopback when a local voltage source is required.
