Low Power Outdoor (LPOD) Amplifier/Block Up Converter (BUC)
Revision 15
Appendix A A–6 MN-LPOD
Only the offline unit is allowed to initiate a redundant switchover by throwing the waveguide
switches. The offline unit will initiate a redundant switchover if any of the following conditions are
met:
Online unit faulted, and offline unit is not faulted.
Inter-unit redundancy link established, and then timed out.
Mismatched waveguide switch condition is detected.
Unit is forced online through a remote command.
If you enable Offline Mute (OFM), then the unit will mute the RF Output when it is offline. The
OFM state also affects the LNB Bias Tee Switch position, because the switch serves as the units
Rx path mute, so it is therefore tied to the Mute State (MUT) of the unit while the unit is running in
redundancy mode (i.e., if MUT=1 then SBT=0, and if MUT=0 then SBT=1). If you try to change
the LNB Bias Tee switch position while redundancy mode is enabled, a mode error will result. See
Table A-1 for a matrix of how OFM use affects operations.

This table applies to LPOD 1:1 Redundancy System operation when the Redundancy State is set
to Tx+Rx (ESW=2).
The operational settings in this table i.e., “0-7 (for the OFM command), and “0/1” or “0/1-4” for
the Online Unit entries, and “0” or “1” for the Offline Unit entries conform to the Description of
Arguments” format for remote command and query operations as they are tabulated in Chapter
5. SERIAL INTERFACE OPERATION.
