Firmware Update 3–1 MN-LPOD
Chapter 3. FIRMWARE UPDATE
3.1 Firmware Update Overview
Make sure to operate the LPOD with its latest available firmware.
CEFD’s LPOD family of Outdoor Amplifiers / BUCs are factory-shipped with the latest version of
operating firmware. If you need to update the firmware, you can apply the update to the LPOD
without having to remove it from operation. You may directly acquire the download from CEFD’s
web site (www.comtechefdata.com
), or receive the archive file by e-mail from CEFD Product
Support.
3.1.1 Firmware Update Procedure Summary
1. Download the firmware update archive file to a user-supplied PC. The user PC must be
Microsoft Windows® compatible. CEFDs optional LPODnet is available for Ethernet-
based remote M&C of the LPOD.
2. Use an adapter cable to directly connect the LPOD ‘J6 | COM1’ receptacle to the serial
port of the User PC. You may also use CEFD’s optional CLC-10 Handheld Terminal (left)
for remote M&C over the Serial Interface.
3. Extract the firmware update files from the archive download file. Then, use the LPOD
Management IP Address to connect the FTP (File Transfer Protocol) client to an FTP
server, and FTP transfer the files from the User personal computer (PC) to the LPOD.
You may also use CEFD’s optional “CReflash” utility.
