PERFORMING B-SCANS
WARNING: Before each procedure, the ultrasound probe must be cleaned and disinfected.
ClearScan® covers cannot be cleaned or reused. Refer to the Cleaning and Disinfecon
secon.
NOTE: Exams are typically performed at the highest Pulse Power seng unless the image is
saturated and beer denion between ssue structures is desired.
NOTE: For best imaging results, use ultrasonic coupling gel. If sterility is required, ensure
that the gel in use is sterile.
NOTE: If desired, ClearScan® covers can be t to B-scan probes with the use of an adapter.

NOTE: The [SCAN] and [RECORD] buons can be congured to operate together or
independently. Refer to the B-Scan Page Preferences secon for more informaon.
1. Create a new paent or select an exisng paent on the Paent Screen.
2. Select the “B-Scan/UBM” screen tab. If necessary, click the [CHANGE EYE]† buon to
change the eye being scanned (OD or OS).
3. Select the desired probe, frequency and depth from the drop down boxes. Select the name
of the Operator performing the measurement. If desired, use the Posion Map to indicate
the area of the eye being examined.
NOTE: If the operator is not listed in the “Operator” drop-down box, add the new operator
by selecng Preferences > Operator and clicking the [NEW] buon.
4. Posion the computer display so that it is easily visible during the examinaon. Seat or
recline the paent in a comfortable posion that minimizes head movement during exam.
Direct the paent to look in the desired direcon and gently apply the probe directly to the
eye or over the eyelid.
6. To Start scanning†: - Click the [START SCAN] buon; or
- Press the Space Bar (keyboard); or
- Press the Foot Pedal (Single Pedal accessory); or
- Press the Le Foot Pedal (Double Pedal accessory).
7. IF the soware is congured as Scan and Record (Preferences > B-Scan Page), the soware
will begin recording as soon as the scan is started.
IF the soware is congured as Scan Only (Preferences > B-Scan Page), the soware will
begin scanning, but will not start or stop recording unl prompted.
To Start / Stop recording: - Click the [RECORD] buon; or
- Press the Enter Key (keyboard); or
- Press the Right Foot Pedal (Double Pedal accessory)
NOTE: Once the soware has recorded the number of “Video Buer Frames” specied in
the Operator Preferences, the scan will begin to overwrite itself.
