POST REFRACTIVE CALCULATIONS
NOTE: The corrected corneal power (Kcorr) calculated using the formulas described are NOT to
be interpreted as a suggested or recommended corneal power on the part of DGH
Technology, Inc. The calculated corrected corneal power (Kcorr) should be used as a
guideline only. It is based upon the accuracy of the post refracve formula used and the
data entered. The determinaon of the corrected corneal power (Kcorr) to use for
performing IOL Power Calculaons must be made by the surgeon, based on personal
experiences and previous postoperave results.
1. Select the Post Refracvecheckbox on the IOL Calculator Screen next to the eye that has
previously undergone corneal refracve surgery. This will automacally open the Post
Refracve Calculator.
NOTE: The Post Refracve Calculator can be opened again at any me by selecng the
[KCORR] buon on the IOL Calculator Screen. The [KCORR] buon is inacve unl
the Post Refracvecheckbox has been selected.
2. When the Post Refracvecheckbox is selected, the Pre-Op group box on the IOL
Calculator screen will change in the following ways:
- K1 and K2 will be replaced with Kcorr or Pre Ref. K and Post Ref. K (Pre Refracve
Surgery and Post Refracve Surgery) depending on the Post Refracve Method selected.
- The values Kcorr, Pre Ref. K, and Post Ref. K are read only
- K1 and K2 are entered automacally into the Post Refracve Surgerysecon of the Post
Refracve Calculator
NOTE: Deselecng the Post Refracvecheckbox returns all elds to the original
conguraon.
3. In the Post Refracve Calculator, select the desired eye(s) on which to perform Post
Refracve calculaons using the Calculate ODand Calculate OScheckboxes.
4. Select the desired Post Refracve formula using the method drop-down box. The required
inputs for the selected method will then be highlighted in white.
5. Enter all known inputs. If a eld is gray, that input is not required for the selected method,
but can sll be edited. K1 and K2 values can be entered as either mm or D, but both K
values in a secon must be in the same units. Pre-Surgical and Post-Surgical K values can be
entered in dierent units.
NOTE: The refracve index (nc) displayed in the IOL Calculator will be automacally
transferred to both the Pre-Surgical and Post-Surgical secons of the Post Refracve
Calculator. If a dierent keratometer was used for Pre-Surgical measurements, the
correct nc for the keratometer used must be entered in the Post Refracve
Calculator.
6. Click the [CALCULATE] buon and the corrected corneal power (Kcorr) will be calculated. If
required inputs are missing, the empty eld will be highlighted in red. All elds must be
entered to complete the calculaon. A successful calculaon will display the Kcorr in the
Outputssecon of the calculator. Kcorr is given in diopters (D) using a keratometer index
(nc) of 1.3375.
