POWER LOCKS
DESCRIPTION
POWER LOCKS
Electric door latches are used to accomplish open-
ing and closing of the vehicle doors and electronics to
accomplish the lock function. There are cables on the
driver and passenger inside handles and the driver’s
door key cylinder that can open the doors in case of a
power failure.
The lock status of the vehicle is a virtual lock, that
is, the Body Control Module (BCM) monitors which
door is considered locked, and will ignore the outside
handle input on the door.
The BCM will send a message to the cluster that
will identify if any one or both doors are unlocked. If
only one door is unlocked, then DOOR UNLOCKED
in the odometer display will blink continuously.
DOOR UNLOCKED will remain steadily on in the
odometer display if both doors are unlocked. No mes-
sage will be displayed if both doors are locked.
DOOR ENTRY INHIBIT
Once the vehicle is started and driven to a speed of
8 to 13 Km/h (5 to 8 mph) then any actuation by the
door inside or outside handles will be ignored. This
has no effect on the virtual lock status of the vehicle.
