7). Pull switch straight away from column to
remove it.
(d) Disconnect wiring connector and remove halo
lamp from the column by unclipping it from igni-
tion cylinder housing.
(e) If necessary, remove ignition switch from
steering column by first removing mounting screw
(Fig. 8). Once mounting screw is removed, pull
switch straight out away from column ignition cyl-
inder housing.
INSTALLATION
(1) If steering column is being replaced, perform
following on column before installing it in vehicle:
(a) Ensure ignition switch is positioned in ON
position if ignition switch needs to be installed.
(b) If necessary, Install ignition switch on steer-
ing column by pushing tapered end onto shaft and
steering column ignition cylinder housing. Install
screw securing the switch to the column (Fig. 8).
(c) Install halo lamp on column until its tabs
snap into place on ignition cylinder housing.
(d) Position multi-function/windshield wiper
switch onto top of column and install two screws
securing switch in place (Fig. 7).
(e) Place clockspring onto end of column engag-
ing clockspring latch hooks into column (Fig. 6).
(f) Install ignition key cylinder in steering col-
umn. To do this, first position key cylinder in ON
position (with key in it) so retaining tab can be
depressed. Push key cylinder into column ignition
cylinder housing until retaining tab locks into
place (Fig. 5).
