4.2.10 Information on the DURAG Modbus protocol
This information is intended for operating and maintenance per-
sonnel who already have the necessary basic information tech-
nology and networking knowledge:
● The Modbus protocol is a communications protocol. Since
1979, because of its open structure, Modbus has become a
de facto standard in the industry.
● The data are transmitted in binary form. This form of the Mod-
bus is designated as
RTU
.
● The DURAG Modbus is based on the Modbus protocol, and
also defines
additional information such as register assign-
ments.
● The D‑ISC100 uses an RS485 serial interface [}204] for con-
nection in accordance with the DURAG Modbus specification.
We have summarised in the appendix the most important tech-
nical data that you require for the D‑ISC100 - Universal control
unit in relation to the Modbus (see 13.5.5 D-ISC 100 software
module - Modbus RTU Slave [}149]).
