XS series operating manual
XS user manual v0.55 - 149 -
Absence of the test piece (DUT).
If points 1 and 2 are not connected together through the test piece, the voltage generated is not present
at the shunt terminals and the voltage re-reading is nil.
If points 3 and 4 are not connected together, relay Re1 contacts remain closed and the voltage re-read is
nil.
In this use case, the unit detects a voltage error from the start of the hold phase. The ERR. TENS. /
CONNEXION message (Voltage or connection error) is displayed on the screen. When the test is
finished (hold and fall times expired), the result is declared false. The Status byte (STB) b1 (error) and
b3 (test result) bits take the following values:
b1 = 1: Error.
b3 = 0: Test false
If disconnection occurs during the hold phase, the fault is detected and the test is declared false. This is
a considerable advantage over a system making a single test before the start of measurement.
If a PLC card is used, the ERROR and FAIL signals switch to 1.
The activation of a breaking detection mode (IMAX, FIMAX, ΔI, etc.) enables a wrong test piece to be
distinguished from a non-connection.
The table below describes the fault combinations and their interpretation.
