IP Server 900 Programming Manual Function 8: IP programming
L.12
Function 835: Other Esi-Link parameters
The codec selected will be used for all Esi-Link calls. This means that all Esi-Link locations in the network
must use the same codec.
The IP Server 900 will always use the G.711 codec for Esi-Link when communicating with other IP Server
900 systems. When in an Esi-Link network with ESI Communications Servers ā running system software
version xx.3.xx (and higher) ā the IP Server 900 can support either G.726 or G.729a codecs.
1
Older ESI
systems can support only the G.729a codec for Esi-Link.
The IP Server 900 must have a G.729a Resource Module installed and licensed in order to use the G.729a
codec for Esi-Link.
Important: ESI strongly recommends that this setting be changed only when the IP/ASC Module is completely idle.
If the codec is changed, all Esi-Link calls (new or already in progress) will lose audio connections,
requiring Esi-Link callers to hang up and restablish their calls.
The ESI-50 supports only the G.726 codec, and thus cannot be used in an Esi-Link network with
G.729a-only ESI systems.
To make this setting, use the scroll key to select the codec for Esi-Link calls and press # to confirm.
