Installing the Blades
W ARNING
Operating a machine after incor r ectl y installing
the blade assembl y and/or not using gen uine
Exmar k blade and blade hard w ar e could allo w
a blade or blade component to be thr o wn out
fr om under the deck, r esulting in serious injur y
or death.
Al w ays install gen uine Exmar k blades and blade
hard w ar e according to the instr uctions.
1. Install the blade to the shaft.
Note: Ensure that the w asher cur v es do wnw ard,
as sho wn, to ensure proper cutting .

2. Place a wrenc h on the at of the spindle shaft and
tor que the blade bolt to 68 to 81 N∙m (50 to 60
ft-lb).
Leveling the Mower Deck
Preparing the Machine
Ensure that the mo w er dec k is lev el any time y ou
install the mo w er dec k or when y ou see an unev en cut
on y our la wn.
Lev el the mo w er dec k side to side before adjusting
the front-to-rear slope .
1. P ark the mac hine on a lev el surface , diseng ag e
the PTO , and mo v e the motion-control lev ers
outw ard to the P ark position.
2. Shut off the mac hine , remo v e the k ey , and w ait
for all mo ving par ts to stop before lea ving the
operating position.
3. Unplug the batter y c harg er if it is connected.
4. T ur n the batter y-disconnect switc h to the Off
position.
5. Chec k the tire pressure of both dri v e tires; refer
to Checking the Tir e Pr essur e ( pag e 40 ) .
6. Chec k the mo w er dec k for bent blades; remo v e
and re place any bent blades; refer to Checking
f or Bent Blades .
7. Lo w er the mo w er dec k to the 76 mm (3 inc h)
height-of-cut position.
Checking the Mower Deck
Side-to-Side Height
1. Adjust the rear -tire pressure .
2. Set the slope of the mo w er dec k to the lo w est
setting; refer to Adjusting the Slope of the
Mo w er Deck section.
3. Ensure that the blades are not bent; refer to
Checking f or Bent Blades .
4. P osition the blades side to side .
5. Measure at the B and C locations from a lev el
surface to the cutting edg e of blade tips .
