Before Operation
Before Operation Safety
• Do not operate the mac hine unless all safety
switc hes and other devices are in place and
w orking properly .
• Before lea ving the operator's position for any
reason, do the follo wing:
– P ark the mac hine on a lev el surface .
– Diseng ag e the dri v es and the po w er tak e-off .
– Eng ag e the parking brak e .
– Shut off the mac hine and remo v e the k ey .
– W ait for all mo ving par ts to stop .
• Before mo wing, alw a ys inspect the mac hine to
ensure that the blades , blade bolts , and cutting
assemblies are in g ood w orking condition.
• T his product g enerates an electromagnetic eld.
If y ou w ear an implantable electronic medical
device , consult y our health care professional
before using this product.
• Use only accessories and attac hments appro v ed
b y Exmark.
• Do not car r y passeng ers on the mac hine and
k ee p b ystanders and pets a w a y from the mac hine
during operation.
• T his mac hine produces a sound po w er lev el that
ex ceeds 85 dB A at the operator’ s ear , whic h can
cause hearing loss through extended periods
of exposure . W ear hearing protection when
operating this mac hine .
• Before operating the mac hine , ensure that
the operator presence controls and either the
disc harg e deector or the entire g rass collection
system are in place and w orking properly .
Otherwise , do not operate the mac hine .
• W hen y ou shut off the mac hine , the blades should
stop . If not, stop using the mac hine immediately
and contact an A uthorized Ser vice Dealer .
• Shut off the mac hine and attac hment(s) if any one
enters the area.

Using the Safety-Interlock
System
DANGER
If safety-inter lock s witches ar e disconnected
or dama ged, the machine could operate
unexpectedl y , which will r esult in serious injur y
or death.
• Do not tamper with the inter lock s witches.
• Check the operation of the inter lock s witches
dail y , and r eplace an y dama ged s witches
bef or e operating the machine.
Understanding the Safety-Interlock
System
T he safety-interloc k system prev ents the PTO from
eng aging unless y ou do the follo wing:
• Mo v e either motion-control lev er do wn to the
center , unloc k ed position.
• Press the On position on the PTO switc h.
T he safety-interloc k system also diseng ag es the PTO
if y ou mo v e or release both motion-control lev ers
into the P ark position.
