Updating RUBY 10
You can update your device by downloading a new release from the
Freedom Scientific website and using the Update screen to install it either
from a USB-C drive or from a computer using the USB cable. Review the
requirements below before following the update steps.
Note: It is recommended that you use a USB-C drive because it requires
much less free space on the device.
Requirements
Before you update your RUBY 10, ensure that:
You download the release file, which has a VHU extension, from the
Freedom Scientific website. A VHU (Vispero Hardware Update) file
updates the RUBY 10 software and firmware.
You have either the USB cable that came with RUBY 10 or a USB-C
flash drive (formatted FAT32). The flash drive is preferred.
Tip: A flash drive can also be used to import/export files from RUBY
10 and download log files for technical support. We recommend
purchasing a dual flash drive that offers both USB-A and USB-C.
Also, a USB-C adapter can be used with a USB-A flash drive.
Your device has enough free space to update. To determine the
available device storage, tap the screen to display on-screen buttons,
then go to Main Menu > Settings > System Settings > Storage. For
a more accurate assessment of the space needed, refer to the
documentation accompanying the VHU file on the website. It takes
less free space if you use the USB-C flash drive rather than the
USB-C cable.
