Selecting an Alternate Operating System
If your hardware is functioning correctly, but your usual b o ot device (suc

as the ro ot disk) is not resp onding as it should, y
ou can select an alternate
available b oot device man
ually by following these steps:
1. Check the LED co des ( Table 7-1) to see if there is a hardw
are problem, or if
there is an op erating system loading problem (T
able 7-2).
2. Turn o the p ower to your workstation, and then turn it back on.
3. Press 4
ESC
5 at the prompt for stopping the b o ot selection pro cess.
4. You will see the following messages:
Terminating selection process.

Searching for potential boot devices.
To terminate search, press and hold the ESCAPE key.
