Installing a GPU card
A GPU can be installed into the primary, secondary, or tertiary position. This procedure shows installation
in the secondary position.
Prerequisites
Before installing this option, be sure that you have the following:
• The components included with the hardware option kit
• T-30 Torx screwdriver
• T-10 Torx screwdriver
• High-performance heatsinks must be installed with this option.
Procedure
1. Observe the following alert.
CAUTION:
To prevent improper cooling and thermal damage, do not operate the server unless all PCIe
slots have either an expansion slot cover or an expansion board installed.
2. Power down the server.
3. Remove all power:
a. Disconnect each power cord from the power source.
b. Disconnect each power cord from the server.
4. Do one of the following:
• Extend the server from the rack.
• Remove the server from the rack .
5. Remove the access panel.
6. Remove the air baffle.
7. Remove the air diverters from the air baffle.
