10. Rotate the locking locking latch, lift the plastic stop, and remove the adapter slot cover.

11. Follow the instructions displayed in the Add a PCI Hot-Swap Adapter window to install the adapter
until the LED for the specified PCI slot is set to the Action state.
12. If necessary, remove the adapter from the antistatic package.
Attention:
Avoid touching the components and gold-edge connectors on the adapter.
13. Place the adapter, component-side up, on a flat, static-protective surface.
14. Set any jumpers or switches as described by the adapter’s manufacturer.
15. If you are installing a short adapter, continue to the next step.
If you are installing a long adapter, do the following:
a. Unlatch and open the PCI adapter light-pipe plate attached to the fan tray.
b. Note the guide grooves located towards the front of the system in the disk drive backplane, and
align the adapter properly.
