Install the 10 EIA-Unit I/O Drawer
When fully configured:
CAUTION:
This unit weighs more than 55 kg (121.2 pounds). Material handling systems such
as levers, slings, or lifts are required to safely move it. When this is not possible,
specially trained persons or services (such as riggers or movers) must be used.
This drawer is very heavy. This procedure is designed to reduce the weight of the
drawer to below 55 kg (121.2 pounds) so it can be moved safely by three people.
1. Remove front door from the I/O rack. See “Front Door” on page 507.
2. Slide the shipping box containing the 10 EIA-unit I/O drawer in front of the rack.
3. Remove the following parts to lower the weight of the drawer to under 55 kg (121.2
pounds), which enables three people to safely lift the drawer into the rack:
v Both power supplies
v Front DASD cover
v All hot-swap drive disk drives (ensure that the drive location is labeled)
v All blowers
v Front top cover
v Rear top cover
4. Use three people to safely lift the drawer onto the support rails, and slide it slowly
into the rack.
5. Continue sliding the drawer into the rack until the front of the 10 EIA-unit I/O drawer
rests against the nut clips on the rack.
6. Attach the rear of the 10 EIA-unit I/O drawer to the rack rails with the two (2) M4
screws and the two (2) M4 washers provided with the 10 EIA-unit I/O drawer. This
secures the drawer to the rack.
