5. Touch the static-protective package that contains the disk drive to any
unpainted metal surface on the server; then, remove the disk drive from the
package.
6. Grasp the black drive handle and slide the blue release latch to the right and
align the drive assembly with the guide rails in the bay.
7. Gently push the drive into the bay until the drive stops.
8. Close the bezel.
9. Lock the left-side cover.
If you have other devices to install or remove, do so now. Otherwise, go to
“Completing the installation” on page 104
Removing an optical CD/DVD drive:
To remove an optional CD/DVD drive, complete the following steps:
1. If you are replace a drive, make sure that:
v You have all the cables and other equipment that are specified in the
documentation that comes with the new drive.
v You have checked the instructions that come with the new drive to
determine whether you must set any switches or jumpers in the drive.
v You have removed the blue optical drive rails from the side of the old drive
and have them available for installation on the new drive.
Note: If you are installing a drive that contains a laser, observe the following
safety precautions.
