Ingress VLAN Tagging
Taggingcanbeenabledonaningressport.Whena packetisreceivedonaningress
port,andifingresstaggingisenabledontheport,aVLANtagwiththeportPVID
isinsertedintothepacketastheouterVLANtag.Dependingontheegressport
setting(taggedor
untagged),theoutertagofthepacketisretainedorremoved
whenitleavestheegressport.
IngressVLANtaggingisusedtotunnelpacketsthroughapublicdomainwithout
alteringtheoriginal802.1Qstatus.
Wheningresstaggingisenabledonaport,allpackets,whetheruntaggedor
tagged,willbe
taggedagain.AsshowninFigure 7,whentaggingisenabledonthe
egressport,theoutertagofthepacketisretainedwhenitleavestheegressport.If
taggingisdisabledontheegressport,theoutertagof thepacketisremovedwhen
itleavestheegressport.
