ConvergedEnhancedEthernet(CEE)referstoasetofIEEEstandardsdesignedto
allowdifferentphysicalnetworkswithdifferentdatahandlingrequirementstobe
convergedtogether,simplifyingmanagement,increasingefficiencyand
utilization,andleveraginglegacyinves tmentswithoutsacrificingevolutionary
growth.
CEEstandardsweredevelopedprimarilytoenableFibreChanneltrafficto
be
carriedoverEthernetnetworks.ThisrequiredenhancingtheexistingEthernet
standardstomakethemlosslessonaper‐prioritytrafficbasis,andtoprovidea
mechanismtocarryconverged(LAN/SAN/IPC)trafficonasinglephysicallink.
AlthoughCEEstandardsweredesignedwithFCoEinmind,theyarenotlimitedto
FCoEinstallations.CEEfeaturescanbeutilizedintraditionalLAN(non‐FCoE)
networkstoprovidelosslessguaranteesonaper‐prioritybasis,andtoprovide
efficientbandwidthallocationbasedonapplicationneeds.
Turning CEE On or Off
BydefaultontheCN4093,CEEisturnedoff.ToturnCEEonoroff,usethe
followingISCLIconfigurationmodecommands:
TurningCEEonwillautomaticallychangesome802.1pQoSand802.3xstandard
flowcontrolsettingsontheCN4093.Readthefollowingmaterialcarefullyto
determinewhetheryouwillneedtotakeactiontoreconfigureexpectedsettings.
ItisrecommendedthatyoubackupyourconfigurationpriortoturningCEEon.
Viewingthefilewillallowyoutomanuallyre‐createtheequivalent
configurationonceCEEisturnedon,andwillalsoallowyoutorecoveryour
priorconfigurationifyouneedtoturnCEEoff.
Effects on Link Layer Discovery Protocol
WhenCEEisturnedon,LinkLayerDiscoveryProtocol(LLDP)isautomatically
turnedonandenabledforreceivingandtransmittingDCBXinformation.LLDP
cannotbeturnedoffwhileCEEisturnedon.
