Configuring a Stack
Whenstackingmodeisenabledontheswitch,theconfigurationisresettofactory
defaultandtheportnumberingchanges.
Whenaswitchmodeischangedfromstand‐alonetostackorfromstackto
stand‐alone,theactiveandbackupconfigurationwillbeerased.Werecommended
thatyousavethe
configurationtoanexternaldevicebeforechangingtheswitch
mode.

Best Configuration Practices
Thefollowingareguidelinesforbuildinganeffectiveswitchstack:
Alwaysconnectthestackswitchesinacompleteringtopology(seeFigure 25on
page 242).
Avoiddisruptingthestackconnectionsunnecessarilywhilethestackisin
operation.
ForenhancedredundancywhencreatingportLAGs,includeportsfrom
differentstackmembersintheLAGs.
Avoidalteringthestackasnumandcsnumdefinitionsunnecessarilywhilethe
stackisinoperation.
Wheninstackingmode,thehighestQoSpriorityqueueisreservedforinternal
stackingrequirements.Therefore,onlysevenpriorityqueueswillbeavaila ble
forregularQoSuse.
ConfigureonlyasmanyQoSlevelsasnecessary.Thisallowsthebestuseof
packetbuffers.
