Usingpasswords
ByusingtheSetupUtilityprogram,youcansetapasswordtopreventunauthorizedaccesstoyourserver.
Youdonothavetosetapasswordtouseyourserver.However,usingapasswordimprovescomputing
security.Ifyoudecidetosetapassword,readthefollowingtopics.
SetupUtilityprogrampasswordtype
ThefollowingtypesofpasswordsareavailableintheSetupUtilityprogram:
•Administratorpassword
Settinganadministratorpassworddetersunauthorizedusersfromchangingcongurationsettings.Ifyou
areresponsibleformaintainingthecongurationsettingsofseveralcomputers,youmightwanttoset
anadministratorpassword.Whenanadministratorpasswordisset,youarepromptedtotypeavalid
passwordeachtimeyoutrytoaccesstheSetupUtilityprogram.TheSetupUtilityprogramcannot
beaccesseduntilavalidpasswordistypedin.
•Userpassword(onlyavailablewhenyouhavesetanadministratorpassword)
Whenauserpasswordisset,theservercannotbeuseduntilavalidpasswordistypedin.
Note:Ifboththeadministratorpasswordanduserpasswordareset,youcantypeeitherpassword.
However,youmustuseyouradministratorpasswordtochangeanycongurationsettings.
Passwordconsiderations
Forsecurityreasons,itisrecommendedtouseastrongpasswordthatcannotbeeasilycompromised.
Notes:
1.TheSetupUtilityprogrampasswordsarenotcasesensitive.
2.TheserversupportsSetupUtilityprogrampasswordsthatconsistofupto20characters.
Tosetastrongpassword,usethefollowingguidelines:
•Haveatleasteightcharactersinlength
•Containatleastonealphabeticcharacterandonenumericcharacter
•Notbeyournameoryourusername
•Notbeacommonwordoracommonname
•Besignicantlydifferentfromyourpreviouspasswords
Besidesthealphabeticcharacters(a-z)andnumericcharacters(0-9),theserveralsosupportscharacters
typedusingspecialkeysonthekeyboardforapassword.Refertothehelpmessageonthescreenwhen
settingapasswordtodeterminethevalidspecialcharacters.

Note:TheSetUserPasswordoptionisonlyavailablewhenyouhavealreadysetanadministrator
