Thistopicprovidessomeguidelinesthatyoushouldreadandunderstandbeforeusingyourserver.
Precautions
Beforeyouusetheserver,besuretoreadandunderstandthefollowingprecautions:
•Beforeusingtheproduct,besuretoreadandunderstandthemultilingualsafetyinstructionsandthe
LenovoLimitedWarranty(LLW)onthedocumentationDVDthatcomeswiththeproduct.Readingand
understandingthesafetyinstructionsreducestheriskofpersonalinjuryanddamagetoyourproduct.
•Whenyouinstallyournewserver,taketheopportunitytodownloadandapplythemostrecentrmware
updates.Thisstepwillhelptoensurethatanyknownissuesareaddressedandthatyourserveris
readytofunctionatmaximumlevelsofperformance.Todownloadrmwareupdatesforyourserver,

•Beforeyouinstalloptionalhardwaredevices,makesurethattheserverisworkingcorrectly.Ifthe
serverisnotworkingcorrectly,seeChapter7“Troubleshootinganddiagnostics”onpage167todo
basictroubleshooting.Iftheproblemcannotbesolved,seeChapter8“Gettinginformation,help,and
service”onpage175.
•Observegoodhousekeepingintheareawhereyouareworking.Putremovedcoversandotherparts
inasafeplace.
•Ifyoumustturnontheserverwhiletheservercoverisremoved,makesurethatnooneisneartheserver
andthatnotoolsorotherobjectshavebeenleftinsidetheserver.
•Donotattempttoliftanobjectthatyouthinkistooheavyforyou.Ifyouhavetoliftaheavyobject,
observethefollowingprecautions:
–Makesurethatyoucanstandsafelywithoutslipping.
–Distributetheweightoftheobjectequallybetweenyourfeet.
–Useaslowliftingforce.Nevermovesuddenlyortwistwhenyouliftaheavyobject.
–Toavoidstrainingthemusclesinyourback,liftbystandingorbypushingupwithyourlegmuscles.
