5.5.3 Overload protection in case of power peaks
Note!
When the drive system is dimensioned correctly, no power peaks occur which
could overload the regenerative power supply module.
The behaviour of the drive system described in the following refers to the circuit proposal
and the parameter setting in chapter Controlled shutdown of the drive system" ( 126).
1. If the regenerative power of the controllers cannot be dissipated completely due to
the power peaks, the DC−bus voltage increases.
2. If the DC−bus voltage reaches the upper comparator threshold (Ax = HIGH), the
feedback operation is inhibited (E1 = HIGH).
3. With brake chopper: The redundant power is converted into heat via the brake
choppers.
Without brake chopper: The controllers switch over to the fault OU" (overvoltage).
The drives coast.
4. If the DC−bus voltage has dropped to below the lower comparator threshold
(Ax = LOW), the feedback operation is enabled (E1 = LOW).
