3 System description
3.1 General description
The CP5 consists of the components listed below. A Sorin HLM (S5 or C5 System) is needed to operate
and supply power to the CP5. The following pages provide an overview of the individual assemblies.
For information on

◗ basic operation,
◗ error and alarm displays,
◗ and routine maintenance,
please refer to the separate operating instructions of the CP5.

Only authorized service technicians may upgrade the CP5 and the corresponding firmware.
A complete system (HLM with the relevant firmware version) is needed to operate the CP5.
3.1.1 CP5 components
The CP5 consists of the following components:
◗ Pump control panel Operation and configuration of the CP5
◗ Drive unit Drives the centrifugal blood pump using
magnetic coupling
◗ Emergency system Manual drive system
◗ Flow sensor and
◗ Sensor module for flow measurement
