Getting started
The following outlines the summary of steps for installing, connecting, and setting up your Extio 3
device. The set up varies for Point-to-Point and for the different Networked (LAN, Internet / WAN
with Site-to-Site VPN, and Internet with IPSec VPN) modes of operation.
Point-to-Point mode
In Point-to-Point mode, Extio 3 transmitter and receiver devices are directly linked to each other
using copper or fiber optic cable.
Do the following to operate your Extio 3 units in Point-to-Point mode:

Networked mode
In networked mode, the Extio 3 transmitter and receiver devices operate over an IP network.
Depending on the type of networking you operate on, the steps differ.
Networked-Local area network (LAN) mode
In Networked-LAN mode, Extio 3 devices operate over a copper-based or fiber-based Gigabit
Ethernet network.
