Adjoining Walls
These figures show example
formwork details at adjoining
walls. Details for lap conditions
at a previous pour are shown in
Figures35.1 and35.2.
The detail for formwork
perpendicular to an existing wall is
shown in Fig.35.3. Three foot rails
are used so that both tubes of the
rail section support the filler.
Unbalanced forces on the
formwork system must be
considered when these conditions
occur near a corner or bulkhead.
Ties or anchors to the existing
structure may be required. The
existing structure may also need to
be evaluated for imposed loads by
the engineer of record.
