For the convex probe, keep the lateral resolution targets near the central line of the
scanning plane.
For the linear probe with the Steer function, do not turn on Steer when testing the
lateral resolution.
Magnify the targets for observation if necessary.
The distance between the left and right edges of a target at a certain depth indicates
the lateral resolution at this depth also.
Test procedure:
1. Place the probe gently on the acoustic window of the phantom covered by water or ultrasonic
gel. Ensure that the lateral resolution targets are displayed in the center of the image.
2. Move the focus to the lateral resolution targets.
3. Adjust the gain, dynamic range, TGC, and other parameters, so that only the target line is
displayed clearly on the image with no tissue image in the background.
4. Read the distance between two targets that can be distinguished clearly, while keeping the
lateral resolution targets horizontal.
5. Repeat the preceding steps at other depths.
