The downward camera carries out the following functions.

━ PWB identification by bad mark recognition
It is often unnecessary for the SMD Placement System to place
components because the PWB was proved bad at the previous process.
A bad PWB found in the previous process is indicated with a Bad mark
and then transferred to the SMD Placement System.
The vision system carries the bad mark information (use of bad mark and bad mark
position) provided by the user’s Job program.

When a PWB enters the work area of the conveyer, the downward
camera checks for a bad mark on the PWB and transfers it to the
next process if a bad mark is detected.
