Actual or
virtual fiducial
mark
recognition
There are two
types of
fiducial marks;
global fiducial
mark given at
PWB level and local fiducial mark given at component level.
For an SMD placement system, global fiducial is called PWB
fiducial. In case of multiblocks, block fiducial can be a global
fiducial. The fiducial mark of an individual component is used for
exact placement of precision components such as fine pitch
components. If the user provides configuration and position
information on fiducial mark through the Job program, the SMD
placement system carries out compensation for the placement
point using the fiducial mark information.
Position teaching for the origin of a single board or an array board
is carried out by the user when creating a Job program.
After creating a Job program, the fiducial marks of the board can
be viewed on the PIC (Pick & Place image collection: positioning
coordinate) mode screen of the program editor.
Component pick & place position check
User can check or teach the pick & place positions of components to
be placed on the PWB through the downward camera. The center of
the downward camera becomes the reference for all system
positions.
The component pick position information is determined by Part
Number and Feeder Number of the feeder that feeds components
according to the job program.
If the two values are given, the component pick position is determined
and checked through the downward camera using the part library
information and other information. After checking the placement
position in this way, the head nozzle picks up the component at the
center of the component.
The component placement position information is classified into
information with or without component-level local fiducial mark. Most
fine pitch components that require precise placement apply local
fiducial.
For a component that does not apply local fiducial, X coordinate
(XPos), Y coordinate (YPos) and R coordinate (i.e. rotation angle) of
the placement position on the PWB (i.e. the center of land pattern of
the component) should be entered in the Job program.
