12-44 Simple inspection and service
CAUTION
• Fuel filter element must not be cleaned and
reused.
• Always replace with a new, genuine fuel filter
element. Do not use the filter element
beyond the recommended replacement inter-
vals. Failure to observe these may damage
the fuel injection parts.
1. Make sure that the parking brake is firmly
applied.
2. Chock the wheels.
3. Clean the area around the filter to prevent dirt
from contaminating the new filter element when
it is installed later.
4. Place a container under the fuel filter to collect
the fuel.
5. Loosen the drain plug by turning it in the
direction of the arrow indicated in the figure to
allow the fuel in the fuel filter to drain out. Use
pliers or a similar tool to loosen the plug. After
the fuel has been discharged, turn the plug in
the opposite direction of the arrow.
