This chapter describes the system configuration of the SURFTEST
SV-3100 series.

1.1 Outline of the System
This system is a high-accuracy stylus type surface roughness measuring system. The
system has the following features.
・ The drive speed of the X axis is a maximum of 80mm/s, and Z2 axis is a maximum of
20mm/s allowing high-speed positioning and providing a high throughput for multiple
contour measurement and multiple workpiece measurement.
・ The cables of the Z1-axis detector are embedded in the main unit, allowing
measurement without cable consideration.
・ The built-in collision safety device in the Z1-axis detector automatically stops the
detector to prevent interference with a workpiece or a fixture.
・ Advanced surface roughness evaluation is possible by connecting the data
processing/analysis unit (option).
