3 PREPARATION FOR
MEASUREMENT
This chapter describes preparation required for measurement (from
attaching the detector for roughness measurement to calibration)..

3.1 Confirming the Connections
Make sure that the cables are connected as specified (refer to “2.4 Overall System
Connection”.)
3.2 Stylus Replacement/Attachment
Select and attach a stylus suitable for the purpose of measurement.
The stylus is a removable type, which can be fixed by the spring force. The nosepiece will
be retained by one nose retaining screw (hex-socket head bolt) at the front.

IMPORTANT
・When the stylus is replaced, do not apply excessive force to it. The stylus and
detector have been precisely assembled, and thus can be damaged if excessive
force is applied.
