In-box Communication Units
4.1 Communication Management Unit (CMU)
The CMU (See Figure 4-1) enables the IRRInet-XL to communicate using the FSK
INTRAC and FSK MDLC data protocols. The FSK INTRAC protocol is through CPU
module Port 2 and the FSK MDLC protocol is through CPU module Port 3.
For Port 2 (Intrac) the communication media can be either a radio, or a wire line or both
radio and wire line together.
For Port 3 (MDLC) the communication media is radio only.
The CMU Module is installed on the top of the multi-slot I/O card cage, held in place by
the four corner posts and two side snaps. The CMU does not have a plastic panel or slot
location.
